I love his irony and his fierce love for the land and his people. One of my favorite screenplays by Alexie is based on his book, “The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven.” He wrote this screenplay for “Smoke Signals,” a film about Victor Joseph, a young Native American in his late teens who lives on the Coeur d’Alene reservation in Idaho. Excellent film! His official website is http://www.fallsapart.com/

I thought Smoke Signals was one of the best films on the native American experience ever. I looks forward to reading War Dances.
