Become a Book for a Day
Mon, May 3, 2010
“Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” We’ve all heard this and now you have an opportunity to bring this phrase to life! On August 21st, the library will be holding a “Living Books” program where people will be able to “check-out” other people for a one-on-one conversation. The “people books” (book people?) will be first- or second-generation Americans with stories to tell about their immigration and/or cultural experiences from other countries. If you think you would like to volunteer to be a “book for a day” here is what you need to know:
when: Saturday, August 21st
what time: 1-4 pm
where: Peninsula Center Library
contact: Ashley Burdick (310) 921-7558 aburdick@pvld.org
Lots of other libraries have done this and they say that teens are often the most popular “books” for check out (of course). If you want to know more about this unique program, visit this website:

Can’t wait to hear more about the PVLD Living Books event! It would be great to have teens volunteer themselves to the collection.
