<p>The Teens&#8217; Top Ten is a &#8220;teen choice&#8221; list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year! Nominators are members of teen book groups in sixteen school and public libraries around the country. Nominations are posted on Support Teen Literature Day, the Thursday of National Library Week, and teens across the country vote on their favorite titles each year. The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) is a national association of librarians, library workers and advocates whose mission is to expand and strengthen library services for teens, aged 12-18.</p>
<h1 style="text-align: center;">The Top Ten!</h1>

Beginning June 18th you can visit any PVLD library and guess the title of the shredded-book-in-a-jar to earn another entry for the iPod Nano drawing! There will be a new shredded book to guess every two weeks through August 10<sup>th</sup>.</p>

<p>October is Teen Read Month so — let’s see you reading!</p>
<p>Enter our contest and you could win an enlarged canvas print of your photograph! Plus, we’ll display an enlarged canvas print of your photograph in the Teen area at the Peninsula Center Library.</p>
<p>Open to teens ages (12-18)</p>
<ul>
<li>Submit a digital photograph of you or a friend reading. The more creative, the better. Entries must feature the word “read”. You can use free online photo-editing sites such as BigHugeLabs, or Picnik to incorporate text into your photo.</li>
<li>Entries will be accepted October 10-November 11, 2011.</li>
<li>Submit your digital photo along with your name and phone number via email to: teensread@pvld.org.</li>
<li>Photos will be judged for technical quality, artistic quality, and originality by members of the Peninsula Teen Activity Council.</li>
<li>One submission per person.</li>
<li>Winner will be chosen by the end of November.</li>
</ul>
<p><em>Upon submission of your photo, you agree that any subject of your photo (or the subject&#8217;s parents or guardian if under the age of eighteen years) has granted permission to use his or her image in the photo. All photos become the sole property of the Palos Verdes Library District upon submission. Entering a photo in the contest waives your right to the photo and any future inspection and/or approval of future use by the Palos Verdes Library District. Photos entered could subsequently be used in other means of communication (including but not limited to marketing efforts and advertising via Web, print, video, audio or television) by The Palos Verdes Library District.</em></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Teens&#8217; Top Ten is a &#8220;teen choice&#8221; list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year! Nominators are members of teen book groups in sixteen school and public libraries around the country. Nominations are posted on Support Teen Literature Day during National Library Week, and teens across the country vote on their favorite titles each year. Readers ages twelve to eighteen will vote online between Aug. 15 and Sept. 16; the winners will be announced during Teen Read Week.</p>
